Reply-To: "Lew, Damon" <dlew@CGR.UCSF.EDU>

Dear Neighbors,

In honor of National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, the UCSF Department of Dermatology is offering free skin cancer screenings at the UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 8:30am – 4pm.  The event is co-sponsored by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano and San Francisco Supervisor Christina Olague.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, with more than three million skin cancers diagnosed annually in more than two million people in the United States.  More new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year than the combined totals of breast, prostate, lung and colon cancers.  Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old. Anyone can develop skin cancer, regardless of skin color or general health and many can be easily treated when detected early.

No appointment and no insurance are required for a screening and the procedure takes approximately 20-25 minutes depending upon the wait time.  Please see the attached flyer for additional information and please help us spread the word by forwarding this notice to your friends, family and/or community networks!

Sincerely,

Damon
